Welcome to OTON, s cozy and intimate Japanese diner in the heart of Kings Cross. OTON is all about “Dad’s Home Cooking” through the warmth of Japanese dishes combined with fresh sushi-grade ingredients. Here we cook the way Dad would—simple, comforting, and full of love, warm bowls, grilled fish, and the kind of food that brings you home, no matter where you are.
Chef Takuma Shoji’s story is truly inspiring He has had a fascinating journey from Osaka to London, with a background as a fishmonger and a fine dining sushi chef that gives him a rare skill set in the UK and Europe. He is now a key figure in creating and introducing new dishes at OTON and OKAN.
OTON was created by Moto the owner of sister restaurant OKAN and Takuma, OKAN and OTON’s food director. They known each other for 15 years and their relationship, like a mum and son, transcends just work, reflecting a familial bond that’s rooted in shared history and love of food.
